Her Garage, an online community for women car enthusiasts, is organizing its first-ever in-person coffee meetup in the Denver metro area. The founder, a Cap Hill resident and Mazda owner, shares her personal story of starting the platform to escape dealership bias and build an inclusive space. I've been watching this community grow over the past few weeks, and I keep spotting Colorado plates in the comments. You're here. I know you're here. And it's time we actually met in person.

About Me (Since I'm Asking You to Introduce Yourself)

I'm the one who started this whole thing, but I'll go first so we're on equal footing.

I'm based in Cap Hill, which means I've mastered the art of parallel parking on a hill in the snow — a skill I did not ask for but now possess at an Olympic level. I drive a Mazda CX-30 Carbon Edition that I've had for about three months now. Before that, I was in a sedan that couldn't handle a Forest Service road to save its life, so the upgrade has been life-changing for weekend trail access.

You'll usually find me on I-70 on Saturday mornings, heading to Copper or Winter Park in the winter, or hiking somewhere off 285 in the summer. My co-pilot is a 60-pound husky named Nika who sheds like it's her full-time job and will absolutely try to befriend you if you have treats.

I started Her Garage because I was tired of walking into dealerships and being asked if my husband was coming. I wanted a space where women could talk about cars the way we actually talk about cars — which is to say, honestly, with details that matter to our actual lives, and without anyone explaining horsepower to us like we're children.

Now I want to meet the people who've been showing up here and making this community what it is.

The Meetup Plan (Tentative)

Here's what I'm thinking: a casual Sunday morning coffee meetup sometime in the next few weeks. Nothing formal. No agenda. No "cars and coffee" rev-fest where someone's modified Mustang drowns out all conversation. Just a bunch of women in a parking lot, drinking coffee, looking at each other's cars, and actually getting to talk.

I'm scouting locations — thinking somewhere central with good coffee nearby and a parking lot that won't be packed on a Sunday morning. RiNo has some good options. So does Baker. If you have a spot you love, drop it in the comments.

Date is TBD — I want to see how many people are interested first and find a weekend that works for the most folks. If you're in, mention what weekends are generally good for you.

A Few Things to Keep in Mind

Safety first. This is a public thread on the internet. Share what you're comfortable sharing. Don't post your exact address or anything you wouldn't want a stranger to know. We'll work out specific meetup details in a private group or DM thread closer to the date so we're not broadcasting our exact location and time to the entire world. Her Garage is a private, women-only space for a reason, and we'll keep the meetup logistics within that boundary.

All are welcome — Denver metro, Front Range, and beyond. If you're in Boulder, Fort Collins, Colorado Springs, or even further out, you're absolutely invited. I know driving an hour for coffee sounds like a lot, but I promise it's worth it to find your people.

Don't stress about your car. This is not a car show. No one is judging what you drive. Whether you're in a brand-new Bronco, a twenty-year-old Subaru with 200K miles, or something your parents handed down that you're still figuring out — you belong here. We're not about impressing each other. We're about connecting.

If you're nervous about showing up alone: That's normal. I'm nervous too. I've never organized something like this before. But here's what I know — every single woman I've met through car communities has been welcoming and kind and just happy to find other women who get it. If you're on the fence, come anyway. Bring a friend if that helps. We'll save you a seat.

Why This Matters

I didn't start Her Garage just to be another forum. I started it because I believe that cars bring people together, and that the friendships formed around cars — the real ones, the ones where you text each other about check engine lights and road trip playlists and which mechanic won't talk down to you — are some of the best friendships you'll ever have.

But those friendships don't happen if we stay behind screens. Someone has to say "let's meet up." So I'm saying it.
